Challenge

Our client approached us with a brief for a campaign which had cooperation with finnish lions ice hockey team. There was also a wish to use augmented reality in some way.

Approach

It felt almost obvious to treat the za hungry end users with an interactive experience that came along with the purchase of the frozen delicacy. Of course an app has to be downloaded to access the game itself and for that we had the privilege to work with Tribered, a finnish gamification company who handled the technical implementation.

Campaign_mechanics

Video ads on youtube directed people to buy pizza and try out the AR-game and get a free Ruutu+ online TV code for 2months and in addition a chance to win vip tickets for Finnish icehockey teams home games for a full year. To play the game you should download the app and buy grandiosa pizza, then open the app and point it at the pizza box and see the game arena appear on top of the box and react to your movements in real time.

Game itself was simple - battle against the goal keeper and try to score as many goals as you can in 60 seconds. Controls utilised the smartphones gyroscope functionality which handled the angle of players shot. To load power of the shot hold your finger on the screen until the power bar reaches red.

Right of the bat, opening the app you get a free Ruutu+ code for 2 months! But wait, there’s more! You could raise your chance of winning the main prize - vip tickets - by playing the game and unlocking achievements. Some of them more challenging than others. Skill based achievements needed some practice and “7 days in a row” just needed the player to open the game and play it even once in 7 days sequentially.

Introducing the campaign and rules of participation with direct links to download the app were laid out to this sleek responsive site where the interested could grasp all needed info for participating and collecting prizes.
